  • We escaped reality for a few days and it was B L I S S. Just 3 hours from Durban overlooking Lake Jozini lies the most magnificent villa - @tandwenivilla - where we spent 3 days recharging our frazzled batteries, eating far too much food and enjoying walks, game drives, sundowner drinks, tiger fishing, pool swims, pool table competitions and good old fashioned card games - tonic for the soul!!!   • If all else fails, remember cowboys don’t cry... Funny story, for those who know me well, you’ll know my husband’s name is Edge - yes like really really on his birth certificate and all. He is not named after a U2 band member - he’s older than the band 🤣 He is in fact named after a cowboy book hero, Captain Hedges, whose name changes to Edge over the book series.
  • So that I don’t have to explain it to another white person. I stand in support of all the amazing POC that I have the privilege of working with everyday. I’ve watched the conversation on here unfold and explode. It got pretty uncomfortable. Good. It’s supposed to be. If your feelings as a white person are hurt or you don’t understand white privilege, then you are part of the problem. I don’t post this to get likes or comments (these will be disabled), I post this in the hope that if only one white person who still doesn’t get it might take the time to actually work out why they need to do their research, check their privilege and be part of the change that is so badly needed. Listen without feeling attacked. Hear what POC are saying without making it about you and your feelings. Make a point of digging deep to recognise that as white people we have been trained to be racist whether we think we are or not. It can change with you.
