Renovation update: My Kitchen

I finally have a kitchen!!!
It’s not 100% finished, but my word it’s a million times better than what I had previously. So I just wanted to share some of the pics with you.

Next steps include a central island on castors and deciding what to do with the floor. Removing the tiles revealed the original red ‘stoep’ floor, with black trim, but because I knocked the wall down between the kitchen and the lounge, I also have a concrete join in the floor between this and the wooden flooring in the lounge – so it’s a bit like a jigsaw puzzle at the moment and I’m completely baffled as to what to do to the kitchen floor.
The red is growing on me to be honest, so I will stew over it a bit longer – budget doesn’t allow for anything drastic at the moment, so living in the space a bit longer will just have to suffice :)

Washing machine plumbed {Hooray}, still need to replace actual machine, new cabinets fitted along length of wall with stone counters in white

KITCHEN22

Tiles removed from walls, wall painted in Plascon’s ‘Dusk of Day’, white subway tiles applied behind sink, cabinets installed to enclose geyser, aircon unit removed, wall demolished between kitchen & lounge

Tiles are from Duratile on Intersite Avenue, kitchen cabinets were installed by Jonathan Wolfe and stone counters by John Maguire.
Thanks for all your comments :)

Looks amazing! Please can you send me the details of who you used to do your kitchen? We built a house and have been living with a non-existent kitchen for the last 9 months. Thanks :-) kerry

It’s looking awesome! Great inspiration to the rest of us living with tired old fittings. Have you considered just painting that concrete strip with black stoep paint so it fits with the edging on the kitchen floor section?
