I’ve long been an advocate for #supportlocal and try to always buy my products and produce from local suppliers and markets. It means it’s fresher and that I’m supporting my community too – a win win!
I love that The Oyster Box supports local too – they have a myriad amazing producers in KZN to source from locally and their chefs believe that the closer to home the food is produced – the fresher it is, the less packaging is involved, the more sustainable it is for the producer and the better it is for their guests.
You can #supportlocal too at The Oyster Box at the KZN Food Heroes Dinner in the Pearl Room, this Friday 24th April. Every item on the menu has been sourced from a local producer, who is a master at their craft and understands intimately, the raw materials with which they work. The event includes an entirely KZN-sourced, 5-course plated menu, accompanied by beer from the Nottingham Road Brewery, live entertainment and a gift for each diner from Peter’s Gate Herbs.
So what’s on the menu this Friday?
– Charcuterie from Midlands Speciality Products
– Venison from Zulu Waters Game Reserve
– Fresh Strawberries from Cappeny Estate Strawberry Farm
– Cheeses from The Gourmet Greek
Flowers will be supplied by LIV Childrens’ Village.
