Everyone knows that the beginning of July signals the start of school holidays and the arrival of every out-of-towner for the Durban July, so a plethora of event options are planned to keep them all entertained. Here’s the lowdown on some of the stuff going down in the next week:
The Ballito Pro surfing & lifestyle festival takes place until July 5th.
From Thursday 2nd – Saturday 4th July, join the after party action with 5FM at the Tropika Ballito Pro Music Concerts on Salt Rock Beach. They are free concerts which you can take your picnic chair along to and sit on the sand, on the beach. Here’s the lineup:
Thursday, 2nd July – rappers Riky Rick & K.O and DJ Milkshake, as well as The League of Loud night, with Poppy Ntshongwana as MC. Also catch Benny Maverick and DJ Tira.
Friday, 3rd July is the 5FM Live on Stage evening with Stephanie B introducing The Kickstands, local musician Majozi and Matthew Mole. The party carries on with Desmond & the Tutus, The Kiffness and Gangs of Ballet, with DJ duo Pascal & Pearce ending off the evening.
Saturday, 4th July – the final 5FM Live Loud party with Nick Hamman & the Battle of The DJ competition winners, with Ms Cosmo. Nicole da Silva and DJ Warras will also hit the decks with Roger Goode & DJ Euphonik.
Friday, 3rd July:
Ushaka hosts the Ultimate July pool party at the Wet ‘n Wild Park between 9am & 8pm
or catch Roger Goode in the evening at Cubana on Florida Road
or hit Gateway for the Vodacom Durban July Preview Fashion Show
Saturday 4th July:
The monthly I Heart Market is on at Moses Mabhida Stadium between 9am & 2pm
Sunday, 5th July
Head to Chris Saunders Park for Pop Bottles Durban with Sphectacula, Naves, Dimplez, Milkshake, Vigilante, Ms Cosmo, Warras, Twins on Decks, Meech, Abbu, Wobbly, JNR B, N.A.G and Junior De Rocka
And if you’re in Umhlanga this week, head down to the main beach for the Umhlanga Tourism Winter Festival – there are daily activities on the stage between 10 am & 2 pm, including the Miss Umhlanga Beach Babe on Saturday 4th at 11am & a Trail Run/Walk on Saturday 5th July at 6:30am.
If you’re up for it, join the boot camp at 9am on 3rd, 4th or 6th July.
