I visited Taste of Cape Town in April and loved it – these food festivals are one of the highlights on my foodie year calendar, as being able to sample small dishes in a variety of different flavours is my favourite way to eat. It’s like eating tapas – small selections of flavours and ingredients that don’t take up too much room, so you have room for more! So the date of the Taste of Durban Festival at the end of this month is firmly in my diary, as it should be in yours.
You can expect the following selection of restaurants and foodie highlights at this year’s Taste of Durban Festival, which is being held at Suncoast between 24th & 26th July 2015:
The Jackie Cameron School of Food & Wine
Boiler Room Café
Vigour & Verve
The Durban eKasi Experience is back again and will include Hollywoodbets & Max’s Lifestyle with a traditional eKasi-style feature, as is the Castle Milk Stout Experience and the Robertsons Ultimate Burger Classes. Pair your food with wine or cocktails at either the Butcher’s Block & Two Oceans Wines stands or The Bacardi Mixology Theatre & Cocktail Lounge and make sure not to miss the artisanal offerings from Black Mamba Chili, Begks Hungarian Smoked Food, Woodview, Bizzibanting, Kupcake Heaven, Sugarlicious and Daniela’s Deliciously Decadent.
During the day sessions, you can take the kids along and drop them at the Classy Party Planners play area where they will be entertained with craft sessions, sand art, colouring & painting, as well as having access to slides, mascots & face painting for R30 per child.
As always, the festival currency is Crowns and these can be purchased at the festival from the Taste Bank or mobile Crown Sellers – remember each crown is worth R5.
