#UBERFORGOOD

uberforgood
We moved recently and I have absolutely no idea why I packed half the stuff I did and moved it with us! It should have just been chucked – would’ve been so much easier. So with Spring having sprung I’m supposed to feel all energised to get rid of clutter and start clearing out wardrobes and kitchen cupboards right? Well I wasn’t feeling it until I got an email from Uber telling me about #UberForGood.

These guys are super clever. They know how lazy we are and how clever their app is, so they’ve devised #UberForGood in collaboration with Forgood to get you to donate unwanted clothing, electronics, appliances and non-perishable foods quickly and easily.

Basically – pack up all the kak you don’t want – make sure it’s half-decent please, ie: not mouldy and relatively clean – and then request an Uber next Tuesday 8th September between 10am and 4pm. Those clever drivers will come and FETCH YOUR STUFF FOR FREE!

Yes, for free.
This is how to do it:
Bag up your spring cleaned clothing & household items and box up your appliances, electronics and non-perishable foods for people or pets.
If you don’t already have Uber, signup here.
On Tuesday, 8th September between 10:00 – 16:00, open the app & select the ‘FORGOOD’ vehicle view at the bottom of the screen.
UberVANs in Joburg, UberXLs in Cape Town and uberXs in Durban will arrive to pick up your items and drop-off your donation to the Forgood depots free of charge.

You will need to take your bags and boxes out to the drivers – don’t be lazy guys, they’re already doing you a favour.
Donations HAVE TO BE bagged or boxed – play nicely people.
If the vehicle is already too full to take your stuff or it doesn’t all fit, request another vehicle and please be patient – I imagine lots of people have lots of stuff to donate, so those drivers are going to be flat out.

And don’t be nasty if you don’t get a vehicle – be charitable and drop it off at a Forgood point yourself – it will be your Spring good deed.

You can share your #UberForGood pics on instagram & twitter and include the hashtag #UberForGood.
Nice one Uber.

Kloof and Highway SPCA will also pick up people’s old stuff. They have a really well run SPCA, lots of shops selling all the different products. Clothes, furnishing, toys, music, attic stuff. They have also opened up a “Charity Shop” on the lines of the shops in UK.
They raise funds to support other smaller SPCA’s. At weekends they play music and serve full breakfasts in the gardens.
