I meant to do one of these as a sort of ‘gift wish list’ at the end of last year, but totally ran out of time.
So now I’m making a big one for 2016 and at least I have a whole year to try tick them off!
I love supporting local businesses and creatives and visiting local places, so this list is a combination of items I am coveting, as well as places I long to visit. They are all unique and awesome in their own way and each is either a South African business, creative or location, so I hope you find something that you will want to discover in our country too.

Brookdale Health Hydro
I meant to book myself into Brookdale the whole of last year for a battery recharge, but things got a bit carried away and I couldn’t schedule any down time – well this year I am determined to change that! I was gifted with their latest cookbook ‘Heavenly and Healthy Flavours’ and have been so inspired to continue my journey to eat clean. It’s beautifully photographed and though being healthy, none of the recipes gives you the impression that you are depriving yourself of delicious food.
Clinton Friedman Wallpaper by Robin Spring
Anyone need a kidney? Seriously I’d swap for this wallpaper – obsessed with it!
Would love a feature wall covered in this Robin Spring wallpaper by Clinton Friedman in our new home, it’s perfect for our tropical Durban climate. I also recently spotted their tile decals which can transform any old grotty tiles in an instant – stick over and hey presto – new look – so must investigate those too.
Leg Studios honeycomb coasters
Have had my eye on these for a while – white inlaid cork honeycomb coasters from Leg Studios – and you can get them together with a beautifully packaged bottle of wine-distilled South African Gin on Hello Pretty.
The Gorge Private Game Lodge & Spa
The Gorge looks amazing and the combination of game lodge & spa is right up my alley!
Just inland from Port Shepstone, the view down Oribi Gorge looks incredibly tranquil and this would be a beautiful spot to enjoy a romantic getaway. Fingers crossed this one can be ticked off!
Mono Online Shop
We’ve painted a few feature walls in our home black and I’m starting to feel the minimalist/scandi vibe come together. So Petro’s revamped Mono Shop is tempting me hugely! The new fabric tapestries added to the online store are fab, as are the meat & knives prints for the kitchen. I’m also hankering after a black trestle table top – actually I could pretty much buy everything in the store!
I already have one of Manoushka Kraal’s black mermaids and she makes me smile every time I pass her in the hallway.
So now the obsession has firmly taken hold and every time I see another mermaid from Noush I long for another one.
These mermaids are hand carved and each comes with their own beautiful name – mine is named Bella.
There aren’t only mermaids in the collection, bears, rabbits & dolls feature prominently too and the latest range of kreepies is what’s got me all flustered and needing more of her work in my home! Too beautiful.
Mia Melange Rope Basket
We need a new clothes hamper for our bathroom and this Mia Melange one would be my first choice – love that it’s 100% handmade and that it’s a modern twist on traditional African basket weaving. Plus it’s hand washable!
James Mudge Ash Hanging Shelves
Well they’re made of ash…
No seriously, these are right up there on my wishlist – absolutely love these shelves by SA designer James Mudge and will find space to have them in my home promise!
Zana Lemons Fabric
Desperately in need of a table cloth for outside entertaining and have not been able to find anything suitable, so might just have to have one made up – quite fancy this fabric from Zana featuring bright citrus pops of colour.
I’m having a marble phase lately so everything made of it is catching my eye big time.
Spotted these paperweights on the Prestwich Collection online store and think my office desk might need one ;)
Also having a moment over these copper hooks – such a simple design, yet such a statement.
Which are your favourites and do you have any SA design on your wish list for 2016?
