Whether you celebrate or not, you definitely know it’s Valentine’s Day this weekend. Flowers, chocolate and overpriced stuffed toys are in your face everywhere – but it doesn’t have to be all totally cheesy…

Here’s my round up of what’s going on in Durban this weekend, for those of you looking to keep it a bit lower key:

LOVE FOOD MUSIC at Shongweni Market
: Live music, food, drinks and general good vibes, R70 entrance, kids R20.

Valentine’s Shmalentines at Distillery 031: no overpriced ‘special’ menu, just their usual menu, plus anti-Valentine’s cocktails served at long sociable tables set up – couples & singletons welcome!
Open from 12:00 to 17:00 – call 087 232 4453 or email info@distillery031.com to book.

Valentine’s night picnic at Audacia Manor:
Spend the evening under the stars watching ‘Grease’ while sharing a private picnic!
Audacia Manor Boutique Hotel – 11 Sir Arthur Rd, Morningside from 17:00 to 23:00
R650 per couple includes sparkling wine, a platter for 2, popcorn at the beginning of the movie.

Boiler Room Cafe dinner
Open for their first evening ever, head to Boiler Room Cafe for what will surely be an impressive menu – for more details call them on 031 312 9021.

Litchi Orchard Valentine’s Market in Salt Rock
Take along your family & friends and spend the day nibbling on the tasty food from local food artisans, or have a stroll through the orchard and then finish off enjoying your food spoils lounging on the lawn.

Whatever you’re doing to celebrate {or not}, remember it’s just another day to tell your loved ones you love them x
