You know those smoothie jars you spot all over pinterest with layers of fruit and smoothie mix, piled with nuts and sprinkles? Well they’re not so easy to make look good!
Had such a laugh over the weekend trying to make pinterest-worthy creations with the kids – but at least they tasted delicious!
Consol Glass asked me to create something using anything from their range and I jumped at the opportunity to make smoothie and salad jars after pinning some inspiration over the last few months. Never realised it would be quite so tricky and have the utmost respect for those who can make them look like this:
Anyway, as I said they tasted insanely good and I think I convinced the kids to want more smoothies!
Smoothie Jar Recipe:
1 cup frozen mixed berries
Splash of water or almond milk for consistency
Whizz up so that mixture is quite thick (I used my nutribullet)
Pour this into Consol jar
Spoon granola or oats on top of the mixture
Sprinkle with cocoa and cinnamon
Top with fresh berries and fruit – I used raspberries, strawberries and sliced apple.
Next up was the salad jar – have been wanting to make one of these for ages and love that Consol do a ‘jar in a jar’ which I used for the dressing – how clever! You can do pretty much any combination you can think of, but the thing to remember is to put the heaviest stuff on the bottom of the jar.
Salad Jar Recipe:
1 handful broccoli florets
Chopped chicken pieces
Layer ingredients in the Consol jar
Put pesto dressing in the separate Consol jar and screw on
Consol is opening up at Cornubia TOMORROW!
