  • Right - honesty hour. This week has been tumultuous. All sort of shizz going down and I have a mare going on in my head. Eating habits are up the pole, drinking zero water and only the odd gin and done ZERO exercise aside from an occasional walk and I now have THE worst skin breakout ever - so I need some recommendations for spot zapping solutions - I’m talking that tube of awesomeness that you keep in your arsenal to literally zap the shit out of a face critter in 24 hours. And go... . Also I have 3 gin boxes arriving next week and I could platz with excitement 💃

  • Guys I won’t lie, I quite like wearing a mask - it means half my face wrinkles are hidden and my double chin is hammocked - score!   • Seems like the only thing I can motivate myself to post about is food 🙈 But when I have delicious treats like this delivered to my door by @doughgirlza who can blame me?! The delightful Chef Courtney delivered these last week within 48 hours of ordering and we had the most delicious weekend - potato and rosemary bread (still warm!!!), oozy pasteis de nata, gooey custard filled doughnuts and pillowy croissants - H E A V E N!!!   • I live to eat, I don’t eat to live. This might look like a simple bowl of ice cream to you. But it’s not. It’s Freddo’s Rocky Road, a flavour I first tasted when they opened their first store in Durban in the 80s. (Yes it’s not just a nite club I was alive then) They are delivering their ice cream in 2 litre tubs to the greater Durban area at hugely discounted prices - they have hundreds of litres to sell as all the events they were catering were cancelled. So support local and contact them via their Facebook page - I will post a link to it in my LOVE LOCAL story highlight. Then S W I P E to see the most glorious deep fried olives in the history of gastronomy - Unity Bar is delivering guys and I ordered them last night - they were a highlight in a continentally shit day!!! And then lastly - I’ve mowed my way through a pack of the new Society Coffee cappuccino sachets - I have no clue how to operate the fancy coffee machine in our house so it’s been a treat to just add water to these and enjoy a hot coffee with foam whilst working - it really is these little foodie things that have kept me going! #askashe_eats #freddoicecream #unitybar #deepfriedolives #societycoffee
  • Day 47 of lockdown. Not gonna lie, getting just a tad over it now. Completely devoid of motivation and energy and the gatvol meter is red lining hourly. Small business is and always has been close to my heart and it’s battling. Sending strength to anyone who needs it right now - no cooking clue how we’re gonna get through this, but from the ashes a phoenix will rise. Show some small business love and give some of the businesses tagged a follow. For some unknown reason the support small button has disappeared from my story feature and I cannot tag anyone there 🤦‍♀️
  • Was sad to see that @houseandleisure is no longer after spending years being a subscriber. My kitchen renovation featured in their first Renovation issue in 2015 and it was the one magazine I really looked forward to receiving for years, as it was filled with countless inspiring SA interiors and heaps of creative inspiration, supporting local designers and makers. I think they lost their way a bit in the last few years and that bloody circle on the front cover nearly made me cancel my subscription at one point, but it’s really left a big gap now it’s gone. I know lots of people will miss it - will you? What will you be reading now to ‘replace’ it? Were you already finding more inspiration online or do you still love printed mags?
