I’m really trying to get up to Joburg next month for 100% Design South Africa, which will take place at Gallagher Convention Centre at the same time as Decorex. This exhibition showcases local and international brands; the likes of Design Team, Meyer von Wielligh, willowlamp, Mungo, Joe Paine, David Bellamy, Egg Design, Arkivio, Goodwood, Douglas & Co, Hoi P’loy and Jasper Eales are all heading up to the city of gold between 5th and 9th August 2016.
Some new features this year include 100% Concrete, 100% Supermarket, Picture Africa and Talking Textiles, with the Featured Design House for 2016 curated by Dokter and Misses. SLOW Lounge designers Tonic Design take on the annual 100% Hotel hospitality interior display and Inhouse Brand Architects tackle the office of the future, in the 100% Office space.
100% Supermarket will no doubt be where I go broke as it will be an on-the-spot shoppable mecca of designer goods – heaven help my credit card!
100 Beautiful Things is still a big feature of the programme, with 100 South African products selected and displayed by Cathy O’Clery, 100% Design South Africa Programme Director.
The exhibition has its own hall at Gallagher Estate, but lucky for you, your Decorex ticket will cover entrance to it as well :)
