So I hit Cape Town over Easter weekend and aside from rocking it at Coke Fest, found some sweet deals you might all want to check out next time you visit the Mother City.
Casbell House in Constantia
It might be a bit out of the way from the buzz of the city centre but only by 10mins, and it costs R200 per person per night for your own studio, with own entrance, kitchenette and en suite bathroom. WHAT A DEAL.
The Constantia Village is right round the corner, filled with awesome restaurants (Try Wasabi for superb sushi), a fantastic supermarket (Alphen – stocked with gorgeous local cheeses and wines), clothing boutiques and some of the regular retailers, as well as a Primi Piatti and a Mugg & Bean.

A short 2 minute drive away from Constantia Village is the Groot Constantia Estate and we arrived at 10:30am to sample some local wine and cheeses! It costs only R25 to taste their gorgeous wines, you get a branded glass to keep and are able to sample 5 wines from the list which includes sauvignon blanc, merlot, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and port – absolutely delicious and what a bargain. Cheese boards are R45 and we shared between 4 people and were stuffed!
OLD BISCUIT MILL & NEIGHBOURGOODS MARKET:
Every trip to Cape Town which includes a Saturday morning should include a trip to the Neighbourgoods Market at the Old Biscuit Mill in Albert Road, Woodstock. Even if it’s just for a lazy walk around the stalls selling fresh bread, pastries, pies, pizzas, steak rolls, greek, italian and turkish food, curries, soups, or for a cup of Cape Town’s finest Origin Coffee – sublime.
Make sure you visit the permanent shops housed in the Old Biscuit Mill building as well, which are open Mon – Sat.
Try Plush Bazaar for all things homely like wooden farm style bread boards & kitchen canisters, Tinsel for local handmade jewellery, Heartworks for all sorts of handmade gifts, Exposure for Lomography pics, cameras and gifts, Bead Boys for the cheapest beads I’ve ever discovered, Meu Meu for gorgeous stationery, and much more.
