I can finally share my Ask Ashe Abode plans – they were approved and delivered today!
I’m over the moon to get started and you’ll see from the pictures below just how excited I must be to smack some walls down and rip up some carpets. These are possibly the ugliest interior pics I have ever posted on my blog!
I bought a flat in a beautiful old block, with high ceilings, masses of space, so much character and huge potential. But it’s all been hidden under a fug of musty brown carpets and 70’s kitsch tiles and accessorised with lime green sanitary ware! To add insult to injury, the previous owner replaced ALL internal doors with those kiff plastic concertina jobs and hung those uber special office blinds in all the windows. You know, the sexy ones like this:
Except, they were EXTRA special, when you drew them together, they had a cloud pattern on them, oh yes they did.
So I’ve been living in this flat waiting patiently for the plans to be approved by Amafa & the Municipality {it was easier getting a bond} and can only now start the demolition.
Below are some pics of the spare room which will be enlarged and made into the main bedroom with en suite bathroom & walk-in cupboard, the living area which will become open plan with the kitchen & entrance hall, the kitchen in all its orange glory and the bathroom & separate loo – I am going to take a sledgehammer to that effing loo and will smile madly while doing so…

I’ll be sharing the progress of the alterations on this blog along the way.
Wish me luck! :)

3rd February 2012 at 11:06 AMgood luck! reading your blog i can tell you have a great sense of humour – you’re going to need that!! can’t wait to see which suppliers and contractors you recommend – when we built i said i would put together a black book of recommended suppliers – had more “wouldn’t touch with a barge pole people” so kicked that plan into touch!! but it’s amazing how it all works out in the end – enjoy the process.
