Renovation update: My kitchen

I’ve had quite a few requests for the name of the suppliers of my kitchen flooring. I finally decided to go with a vinyl tile in dove grey for ease of application, cleaning and for its simple aesthetic and I’m so glad I did! I hunted high and low for it though, coloured vinyl is not readily available in SA and I thought I was never going to find what I wanted – all the samples I saw were either an inferior product from china with so many defects in each tile and when malleted together, they didn’t meet up properly, or the quality was so bad, that not each tile was the same colour consistency, which would’ve looked so crap laid out.

Enter Jawbone – my go to guys for ANYTHING event or experiential-marketing related. I’ve worked with Jade and Sven for over 4 years now and have come to rely on their expertise, as well as can-do attitude in a myriad arenas. I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be able to do my job if it weren’t for them and their team – they deliver everytime. So it was only natural that they had a solution to my flooring dilemma. I was bitching {as I often do} about not being able to find anything I liked in the vinyl flooring department and within a week they had sourced and sorted out exactly what I wanted.

Easy to install with a rubber mallet to click all the pieces together and there are also linear strips to attach to the edges if necessary to give you a nice angled, straight-edged finish. It’s a little labour intensive in that you’ll be bent over for a couple of hours installing, but we didn’t even use adhesive under each tile and it all fits and sits together perfectly without it. And voila – kitchen floor sorted!

I’ve also been desperate for a floating shelf above the sink area in the kitchen and wanted something simple that would compliment the ply wood dining table and start tying all the wooden pieces in my home together. I saw all the beaut things Rhenda & Nev from iKhaya were doing in Jo’s home and knew they would be able to help me out. Rhenda popped in and knew exactly what was needed and here are the results:

Looking forward to a few more projects in my home with them as I start moving on to other rooms!
