The Midlands area of KZN is one of my best to explore – there is so much to discover on the meander route and there are some amazing places to stay and eat. We were up there recently for a wedding at Netherwood – my first at this amazing venue and we had breakfast at Blueberry Cafe both mornings we were there – it was that good.
The cafe is located on the same farm as Netherwood in Nottingham Road and looks over the farm valleys all the way up to the Drakensberg – even the loos have a view with glass walls that let you peek at the cows – loved the sticker on the glass!
But the best part is the food – we had amazing breakfasts both mornings and the
hangovers were soon forgotten ;)
I had blueberry crumpets with bacon and maple syrup on one of the mornings – simply sublime – and a full english breakfast on the other – I was too hungover to take a pic first unfortunately… but it was good I promise!
The building has high beamed ceilings and a central fireplace which was blazing and most welcome, as it was freezing in the Midlands that weekend. There is a little shop called The Winkel as well, but mostly you’ll want to just cosy up on a couch and watch the clouds float by after you’ve had blueberry crumpets – such a beaut relaxing spot – highly recommended for when you’re next in the area.
