Bofred – South African artistic collective

I love discovering new South African stores on my internet travels – this one in Cape Town is right up my alley, with a beautifully curated collection including furniture, decor items and accessories.

Bofred was established in Cape Town this year, by designers Christa Botha and Carla Erasmus who together create and select interior items and furniture, which are either designed or restored by themselves to ensure that each is a one-of-a-kind artistic piece.

There’s also a feel good factor to Bofred, as they support and promote local craftswomen and organisations, collaborating with them to design and produce furniture, décor items and accessories with a contemporary style. They are passionate about creating a community of crafters who support and empower one another and all the items created in collaboration with the crafters are available through Shop for a Cause, with a percentage of proceeds allocated to help support the social and economic development of all crafters involved.

I’m all about mixing the old with the new these days – the old school lines of these furniture pieces mixed in with some modern pieces would be great. And the brown glass medicine jars are awesome!
