If you’re a regular reader or follow me on instagram, you’ll know that we’re renovating our new home – amid much rubble and dust! We’ve gone open plan and created one large living area and can now start working on the look of the space – all while being on a tight budget.
So I was over the moon when the #DecorlandDIY Challenge became a reality and I’ll be making over one window in my home as part of a DIY challenge they’re running. Myself and 2 other bloggers are taking part – Vicki Sleet from I Want That and Karen Kelly from lovilee and together, we’ll be making over a window and surrounding area using Decorland products.
We had standard size windows in our old home so I used ready-made blinds from Decorland in that renovation, as they come in a range of finishes and sizes and we headed for Game, where Decorland is stocked and just grabbed them off the shelf, after measuring up at home. But this time round we have a large bay window that is quite high, so I’ve ordered custom-made blinds to be made up by their team to fit.
Obviously I have had a million different ideas for the window and walls surrounding it, but have finally managed to reign my ideas in and have settled on a black and natural wood palette – I know – a departure from white!!!
Yes it is true, but believe me, I cannot wait to get stuck in!
I’ve created a board on Pinterest with all my ideas for the space so I could see what the scheme could look like in one place – have a look at it here. And I’ve ordered the Bass Wood Venetian Blinds in Pecan from Decorland which I know are going to look hot!
Here’s a pic of the space now – with grotty grey curtains which we hung when we moved in a few months ago just for privacy:
And here are some of my inspiration pics – let’s hope I can pull this off!
I’m not sure whether to paint walls black and leave window frames white and then hang the wooden blinds, or whether to paint the window frames black too – HELP!? What do you suggest?
Follow the challenge on social media under the hashtag #DecorlandDIY and make sure to have a look at what Vicki & Karen are up to – there’s also going to be a giveaway where 3 winners will each win their own Decorland window makeovers worth R5000 – nice hey!
