Monochrome

We recently decided to continue with our home renovations and have been knee deep in red dust for 2 weeks – it really is not for the faint-hearted! The amount of mess taking one wall out makes, is incredible and the number of times we’ve wiped, mopped and dusted is too many to count – but at least the dust taste in our mouths has started to dissipate :)

Jess Binns from Hector & Bailey was tasked to come up with a new floor layout and mood boards for our bigger open plan space and she wowed us a few weeks ago with a palette of white & black and lots of natural finishes. I don’t want to give too much away with what we have planned, but here’s one of the pics I took of her mood board which I shared on instagram:

So now I’ve been flipping through all my past issues of Real Living Magazine on zinio and saving all the monochrome pics to get my own mood boards going – there is some amazing inspiration out there – I’m on the lookout for how to achieve this all on a very tight budget though!

One of the biggest issues we’ve encountered is the floor heights between the 2 walls we knocked down not being even – flip you never think of these things and only uncover all these snags as you go along – no wonder renovation budgets are never finite!

Anyway, thought I’d share some of the inspiration I found in the August 2015 Real Living Magazine – if you don’t subscribe to this magazine, do yourself an favour and do so – zinio is my favourite app and I love getting all the international mags each month.
