It’s been a crazy week, filled with plumbers, scaffolding, new aluminium windows, dry walling, electricians, plastering and tv aerial conundrums! Have been staying with my folks and feeling a little displaced and desperate for my own space back, it’s crazy how much of a homebody I really am – am champing at the bit to get to the stage where the water is connected again and at least one bathroom is functioning.
Have chosen all the bathroom fittings and sanware (what a mission!) and next up is the tile hunt – really not looking forward to that after the few glimpses I’ve had of tiles while doing the rounds of Durban’s plumbing outlets. There are only so many garish colours and weird prints I can handle, why isn’t there one place that just does big, glossy, white (reasonably priced) tiles!?
And once the bathrooms are complete, my next big decision is what to do with the floors. Once the sexy brown carpets are lifted, I need to decide what to do with the oregon, they wont be left natural of course, there are only 2 options – white high gloss paint, or vinyl wood finish in whitewash. I’m leaning towards the paint, but the floorboards are quite skinny and the transition from wood to concrete in the kitchen is a worry.
Anyway, I dont have many pics to share, they’re all of half plastered walls and unfinished ceilings, so are a bit boring, so I leave you with some of my inspiration pics. One day soon I’ll be in white heaven, nesting back in my own space :)
